QLIMG DOCTORS, HEALTHCARE WORKERS, DONATE ONE DAYíS PAY TO TWIN TOWERS FUND

The physicians and staff of Queens-Long Island Medical Group, P.C. are saddened by the events of September 11, 2001. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of those who tragically lost their lives. In their honor many of the more than 1,700 physicians and staff of Queens-Long Island Medical Group, PC have donated one dayís pay to aid families of the victims of the September 11th tragedy.

In a heartfelt show of sympathy and support, the healthcare workers are contributing $100,000 from their paychecks to the NYCPPI Twin Towers fund established by the City of New York to aid the families of Police, Fire, EMS and other City employees involved in rescue efforts in the aftermath of the September 11 tragedy.

ìAlthough we in healthcare have dedicated our lives to healing, September 11th has taught us that sometimes our mission extends beyond the practice of medicine,î said Reza Sabet, M.D., President and Medical Director of Queens-Long Island Medical Group. ìWe are proud of this outpouring of support from our workers for those who have suffered, and continue to suffer, from this tragic event - our patients, our neighbors, our friends. This fund is particularly appropriate because our organization has a special affinity with the rescue workers, since so many thousands of the patients whom we have long serviced are City Police and Firefighters, and their families,î Dr. Sabet said.

The donation check was presented to Claire Shulman, Borough President of Queens, at Queens Borough Hall on Wednesday, October 24th. Representatives of the City of New York and the uniformed services also attended.
